POSITION OVERVIEW

The Advisor will work closely with and learn from Quanta Technology’s team of industry-leading advisors and technical experts in the field of synchronized measurements and phasor measurement units (PMU) projects as they provide consultation for Grid of the Future. With experience in PMU technology applications, practical distribution, and transmission power systems knowledge, and an understanding of industry current and emerging issues, the Advisor will work with the team to develop new protection and control and analytic solutions with our clients.

This is a critical position within Quanta Technology and is reserved for people with the passion to build innovative solutions, foster teamwork, and work with utilities on innovative solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Practice Development / Expansion – Highly motivated individual to work in a team environment to develop applications for time-synchronized phasor measurements (synchrophasors) in electric transmission and distribution grids.

Customer Focus – Working knowledge of core utility and AMI processes including:

  • Collaborate with utilities and team members in solving technical operating problems or meeting the needs of utility and research clients.
  • Lead or support the development of systems and solutions which are integrated with any or all protective relaying, control, remedial action schemes, and utility operational functions of SCADA and EMS as well as system analytics.
  • Lead or support the development of systems and solutions which are integrated with the communications and security infrastructure of clients and target applications.
  • Support the development of overall solution architectures.
  • Develop business case support for clients justifying synchronized measurement technology developments.
  • Interface with utilities, government research organizations, and other clients.

Team Focus – Develop solutions collaboratively with adjacent projects and teams working in related technical or business areas – be a team player promoting the overall business advancement of Quanta Technology.

  • Write technical reports of project results with excellent organization and composition.
  • Conceive and structure new projects, with a distribution of work across a team.
  • Write, pursue, and close proposals.
  • Be a team player, promoting overall Quanta Technology.

Industry Participation / Recognition – promote Quanta Technology’s expertise and experience in the synchronized measurements area.

  • Participate in related industry standards development and technical forums, both for technical contribution and learning and for the development of relationships to help the Quanta business and develop new project work. Keep abreast of related technical developments.
  • Write and present technical papers and industry materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Leadership and Technical expertise in the utility industry as demonstrated by previous experience, projects, involvement in technical societies, and/or patents
  • Degree in Engineering or another relevant technical field
  • 8+ years of experience with Electrical Power Systems
  • 8+ years of experience in Business Development and/or Consulting

SKILLS & SYSTEMS

  • Business Development and Customer management
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive space
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team dynamic
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint, Etc.)
  • Experience in common power system study tools (PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, ASPEN, OneLine, PSCAD, EMTP, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or another relevant technical field
  • Active member of IEEE, industry groups, etc.

LOCATION

Quanta Technology has offices in Raleigh, NC, Markham, ON, Lombard, IL, and San Clemente, CA. We offer remote and hybrid employment that supports a blend of in-office and remote work. The preferred location is Raleigh NC but open to remote or other locations.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a professional office environment. Work may require overnight national and international travel.
