We are looking for experienced protection and control engineers who are interested in joining our growing team of experts. As a member of our Protection and Automation group, you will work on protection short circuit studies, coordination studies, relay settings, peer reviews alongside industry leaders. Our offices are located in the US and Canada (Raleigh, Toronto, Oakland, San Clemente & Chicago).
Qualified candidates will ideally have five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in transmission protection engineering including proven competency in the following areas:
- Setting protection relays
- Reviewing protection schematic drawings for accuracy against standards
- Proficiency in using ASPEN or CAPE for short circuit studies
- Calculation of setting parameters for microprocessor and electro-mechanical protective relays
- Preparing settings in the relay manufacturers’ software
- Preparing logic diagrams of protection schemes
- Carrying out peer reviews to check adherence to standards, philosophy, application guidance and accuracy of calculations
- Modeling of primary systems and secondary systems in electrical simulation software platforms such as CAPE or ASPEN software
- Performing coordination studies and correcting any issues discovered
Qualifications required include:
- BSEE in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Power Systems
- PE or P Engineer license is preferred
- Proficiency in using and applying coordination software like ASPEN or CAPE
- CAPE macro development or ASPEN scripting is a plus
- Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast paced team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
- Ability to travel and work independently at client locations or as a member of a team
