POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a distribution subject matter expert who is an experienced utility professional with broad technical expertise in distribution engineering, operations, maintenance, and/or asset management. The position of Senior Advisor is an important technical position within Quanta Technology and is reserved for people with demonstrated technical skills and the ability to independently write proposals, manage and execute projects, and help with opportunity identification and client management. A Senior Advisor is encouraged to build a strong industry presence and aim to become one of the top-recognized people in their area.
Senior Advisors are responsible for leading a team of advisors or senior advisors and providing tactical advice to clients at the department, director, or manager level. These individuals must be able to understand complex industry and technical challenges and develop and lead solutions from different disciplines at the tactical level. A typical scope of work for this position includes developing solutions to complex problems that involve technical and economic perspectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Securing and leading technical projects focused on distribution engineering and strategies for improving grid resilience and reliability.
- Work across all business areas of Quanta Technology keeping abreast of emerging trends, requirements, and issues related to all aspects of electric power delivery infrastructure.
- Lead projects with clients and manage the resources, costs, and schedule while delivering a high-quality product to our clients.
- Collaborate with Quanta Technology staff at all levels.
- Independently write proposals.
- Provide and further develop high-quality Project Management skills.
- Help identify and pursue business opportunities in the area of expertise.
- Develop contacts to generate projects.
- Leverage Quanta Technology synergies and resources
- Present individual and overall Quanta Technology competencies and offerings to customers
- Gain the utmost confidence and trust of the customer to be perceived as an expert in the area of expertise.
- Be a team player, promoting overall Quanta Technology
- Follow the Quanta Technology processes, strategic directions, and vision.
- Keep abreast of related technical developments in the field.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Recognized as a top industry expert in at least one area of the utility industry as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, leadership in technical societies, industry awards, and/or patents.
- 12 years of experience and demonstrated success in distribution engineering, maintenance, and/or asset management.
- Direct utility, equipment vendor, or service provider experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a relevant technical field
SKILLS & SYSTEMS
- Ability to work in and lead a dynamic, diverse team by demonstrating good communication skills.
- MS Office suite
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng.) license
- Master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering or a relevant technical field
- Consulting or project management experience
- Active participation in industry working groups on standards and specifications.
SKILLS & SYSTEMS
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills including presenting in front of large groups, writing reports and peer-reviewed technical papers, and participating in industry activities.
LOCATION
Quanta Technology has offices in Raleigh, NC, Markham, ON, Lombard, IL, and San Clemente, CA. We offer hybrid employment that supports a blend of in-office and remote work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for a professional office environment. Work may require overnight national and international travel.
