POSITION OVERVIEW
The position of Senior Advisor is an important technical position within Quanta Technology and is reserved for people with demonstrated technical skills and the ability to independently write proposals, manage and execute projects, and help with opportunity identification and client management. A Senior Advisor is encouraged to build a strong industry presence and aim at becoming one of the top-recognized people in their area in the future.
Senior Advisors are responsible for leading a team of advisors or senior advisors and providing tactical advice to clients at the department, director, or manager level. These individuals must be able to understand complex industry and technical challenges and develop and lead solutions from different disciplines at the tactical level. A typical scope of work for this position includes developing solutions to complex problems that involve technical and economic perspectives.
This role focuses on guiding a team of engineers in routine testing and executing complex R&D initiatives, such as Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) demonstration projects. Responsibilities include developing and implementing test setups, operating hardware in the lab, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of EV technology and relevant standards, including ISO 15188, DIN SPEC, SAE J3400, SAE J3072, and OCPP. This position requires travel for on-site testing and collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Routine Testing: Guide a team of engineers on performing routine testing of EV chargers and vehicles to ensure performance and reliability.
- R&D Testing: Execute complex R&D testing projects, including demonstration testing of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) systems.
- Develop Test Setups: Design and implement comprehensive test setups to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of EV chargers and vehicles.
- Standards Knowledge: Ensure all testing procedures align with relevant industry standards, including ISO 15188, DIN SPEC, SAE J3400, SAE J3072, and OCPP.
- Hardware Expertise: Understand and operate hardware setups in the lab to conduct effective testing and validation.
- Data Analysis: Analyze test data to identify performance issues, validate results, and recommend improvements.
- Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical guidance and support, keeping up-to-date with the latest advancements in EV technology.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with design, engineering, and product development teams to ensure alignment and integration of testing results.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on testing outcomes, performance metrics, and validation results for internal and external stakeholders.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development responsibilities include identifying and helping to develop strategic revenue-generating relationships with existing or potential customers. After an initial adjustment period, Senior Advisors typically will perform Business Development activities assisting others in this area. Achievement of Business Development activities which result in being able to support one’s self in billable work. The ability to support additional staff in billable work will improve one’s assent within this position’s pay range. However, Senior Advisors with strong technical skills who do not perform any level of Business Development activity may only ascend to the mid-level of this position’s pay range.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in EV technology, focusing on charger and vehicle testing and validation.
- 12 years of experience and demonstrated success in technical leadership
- Strong understanding of EV systems, including battery management, power electronics, and charging infrastructure.
- In-depth understanding of the EV market, trends, and emerging technologies.
- Prior experience with transportation electrification technologies, inverter-based resources, and integration of DER to grid
SKILLS & SYSTEMS
- Proficient in relevant industry standards such as ISO 15188, DIN SPEC, SAE J3400, SAE J3072, and OCPP.
- Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive space.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with Charger and vehicle manufacturers
- Experience with Commercial and Industrial customers
SKILLS & SYSTEMS
- Familiarity with communications protocols such as CSIP and IEEE 2030.5.
- Understanding of interconnection requirements such as IEEE 1547, Rule 21, etc.
TRAVEL
Work may require overnight national and international travel. Travel will be required 20-40% of the time, depending on the location of the customer or resource. Travel destinations may include lab, field, and testing environments.
LOCATION
This opportunity is limited to candidates in the continental United States. Quanta Technology has offices in Raleigh, NC, Lombard, IL, and San Clemente, CA. We offer hybrid employment that supports a blend of in-office and remote work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for a professional office environment. When working in a field or lab environment, protective personal equipment or additional safety training may be required. The role may require the ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions. Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and bend is required.
