POSITION OVERVIEW

Engineers I, II, and III are critical technical positions within Quanta Technology. They will use and develop their technical skills to support projects, build an industry presence, and work towards becoming a recognized expert in their technical area in the future. Engineers will be responsible for executing work under the direction of a higher-ranked engineer. Key responsibilities will vary based on the business and practice area but may include:

  • Conducting power flow system modeling
  • Performing distribution and/or transmission system planning
  • Assisting in technical studies
  • Preparing reports, proposals, presentations, and papers
  • Applying principles and techniques of electric power systems engineering
  • Reviewing technical documents and manuals
  • Developing program scripts for data processing

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree Requirements:
    • Engineer I – Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a focus on Power Systems
    • Engineer II – Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a focus on Power Systems
    • Engineer III – Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field with a focus on Power Systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Visio, Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Familiarity with programming languages and visualization softwares such as C#, C++, R, JavaScript, VBA, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Familiarity with electrical simulation software platforms such as CAPE, ASPEN, CYME, PSCAD, SYNERGI, PSS/E, MATLAB, Simulink, GridView, PROMOD, etc.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on a diverse team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Oracle Apex, Tableau
  • Prior work experience and/or industry activity

LOCATION

Quanta Technology has offices in Raleigh, NC, Markham, ON, Lombard, IL, and San Clemente, CA. We offer hybrid employment that supports a blend of in-office and/or remote work.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a professional office environment. When working in a field or lab environment, protective personal equipment or additional safety training may be required. The role may require the ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions. Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and bend is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
