POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to oversee the day-to-day management, maintenance, and optimization of our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of systems administration, excellent troubleshooting skills, and experience managing complex IT environments. This is a hands-on role that will involve both strategic planning and tactical execution of IT operations, including network, server, and storage systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Administer and maintain a variety of server environments (Linux/Unix/Windows) and network systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability. Proactively monitor systems, networks, and applications, identifying and resolving issues before they impact end-users. Provide troubleshooting and support for escalated technical problems. Design, deploy, and manage configurations, including system updates, patches, and backups to ensure compliance with company policies and security standards. Regularly assess the performance of servers, storage, and network systems, making recommendations for improvements or upgrades to meet business requirements. Implement and manage security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems. Ensure all systems are compliant with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Design, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss in the event of an incident. Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation on all systems, configurations, and procedures. Provide regular reports on system performance, security, and infrastructure health. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable, reliable, and efficient IT solutions. Mentor junior administrators and provide technical guidance as needed. Provide support and assist with emergency troubleshooting during off-hours when required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. 7+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar IT operations role with a focus on large-scale, complex environments. SKILLS Expertise in server administration (Linux/Unix/Windows). Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, VPN, etc.). Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) Advanced experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and infrastructure technologies (NetApp, Nutanix). Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or PowerShell. Knowledge of database administration and high availability architectures. Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Axonius, Incorta). Strong understanding of security best practices, including firewalls, access control, encryption, and vulnerability management. Configure and deploy applications, and services in Cloud environments, with demonstrated DevOps experience in one or more Cloud vendors environments. Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze business requirements and scope out and drive development tasks. Create design specifications, project plan, documentation-based business requirements, and development tasks. Work with customers and utility subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand their business and technical needs and build a software product that best fits their needs.
