Ralph Masiello Industry Advisor

Ralph Masiello, PhD, Industry Advisor, supports our partners in the areas of wholesale market analysis and system performance, energy storage, distributed energy resources, and strategic planning. He received his BS, MS, and PhD in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

He worked on the early applications of modern control and estimation theory to electric power systems and the development of the first state estimators for transmission operations. Ralph also led the teams that developed the first utility dispatcher training simulators, and he led the organization that developed the early commercial ISO systems for market and reliability operations. He chaired the first US DOE advisory committee on energy storage and worked with most US ISOs to support storage for ancillary services.
