What is Asset Performance Management (APM)?

In the realm of a Transmission & Distribution (T&D) utility, the main objective of the business is to deliver electric power to customers in a safe, secure, reliable, and economic fashion. Physical assets comprise of substation equipment, T&D lines, and other ancillary equipment.

Benefits of Asset Performance Management

An Asset Performance Management solution offers several benefits. Here are a few advantages to consider, with more to discover when partnering with Quanta Technology:

A demonstration of how these aspects create APM.

Why is Asset Performance Management Needed?

Asset Performance Management plays a crucial role in guiding asset investment towards remedial actions. This involves identifying and addressing the needs of critical assets to ensure their optimal performance. Here are the key steps of Asset Performance Management for asset investment:

1) Identify assets that need remedial action for: maintenance, refurbishment, and replacement.

2) Determine the remedial actions for each asset: what action is needed? When is the action needed? What happens if remedial action is taken or not taken as recommended?

3) Align investments with the risk of failure: investments must be aligned with the underlying risk of failure per the “line of sight” principle as outlined in the ISO 55000 Standard.
