Farid Katiraei, PhD, Vice President, Advanced Technology Integration, has more than 17 years of professional experience with design, modeling, implementation and testing of microgrids and energy storage systems with special expertise in power electronics and utilizing power system analytical tools such as CAPE, ASPEN, RTDS, PSCAD/EMTDC, CYMDIST, EDSA, and EMTP-RV. In recent years, Farid has been involved in several industrial and utility projects focusing on microgrids, distribution automation and wide-area monitoring and protection coordination, renewable energy and utility-scale energy storage integrations, protection system evaluation and scheme design, real-time microprocessor-based relay testing (using RTDS system) for complex protection and control systems in utility grids. Farid is the business area manager for Advanced Technology Integration.
