Engineer III

Quanta Technology LLC seeks Engineer III (Raleigh, NC) Duties: Provide technical expertise to power utility providers in the identification and the resolution of complex power system issues related to planning, interconnection, and operation of the transmission system. Conduct power system evaluations, such as utility-level transmission and generation deliverability analyses, to assess the current transmission network’s capability and develop strategic suggestions for transmission deliverability from any existing or anticipated energy resource. Assist clients with their annual Transmission Planning Compliance by conducting area assessment studies by building bases power flow case, performing power flow studies, and developing appropriate interim and long-term Corrective Action Plans to mitigate any severe overloads and voltage violations on the system resulting from contingency analysis abiding by the NERC TPL-004 standards. Assist clients with their annual TPL compliance studies by performing spare equipment studies on the Bulk Electric system and develop mitigation plans for overloads and voltage violations resulting from various categories of contingencies as approved by NERC. Perform load interconnection studies for client system by performing N-1 and N-1-1 analysis, and provide mitigation plans for the overloads and voltage violations resulting from the interconnection and suggesting appropriate upgrades to facilities due to the proposed interconnections. Execute electrical independence test to determine the relationships between new interconnection requests with queued-ahead requests in the study phase. Evaluate new generation interconnection connections application and identify abnormal data variances in technical reports and propose/perform additional actions for correction.

 

Required:  Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Systems Engineering, or related field.

 

Must have academic experience in at least 4 or more of the following areas as demonstrated by completion of graduate coursework and/or projects:

  • Distribution system modeling and analysis tools.
  • Python or Matlab scripting.
  • Project Management for professional consulting or electric utility environment.
  • Power Electronics.
  • SCADA Communication.
  • Power System Protection Settings.
  • Renewable Electrical Energy Systems.
