Laying the Foundation

A new vision for expert utility consulting begins.

InfraSource Technology was established under InfraSource Services to guide the electric power sector by leveraging industry expertise.

Becoming Quanta Technology

InfraSource Services was acquired by Quanta Services, forming Quanta Technology, LLC—a boutique consultancy headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, with the goal of becoming the partner of choice in the power and energy industry, and to grow to a team of 100 employees.

Expanding into System Planning

As momentum grew, we expanded from technical consulting into system studies, distribution and transmission planning, and operations support.

We began hiring junior engineers to develop scalable expertise for utilities navigating increasingly complex grids.

Advancing Renewable and Protection and Control Testing

We launched advanced real-time digital simulation (RTDS) laboratories in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Toronto, Canada, enabling hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing for renewables and protection and control systems.

This positioned us to better address grid reliability, resilience, and integration of clean energy resources.

Broadening High-level Engineering Services

We scaled into new areas, including protection coordination settings, asset management, and advanced engineering design.

This required hiring domain specialists and furthering our reputation for delivering strategic, high-impact engineering solutions.

Developing Purpose-built Software Solutions

Recognizing unmet needs in the utility space, we began developing custom software tools to bridge gaps in existing workflows.

Our offerings are not off-the-shelf—they are designed to fill critical operational blind spots, and clients responded with strong demand for licensing.

Growing Our National Footprint

We opened new offices in San Clemente, California, and Lombard, Illinois, expanding regional support for clients.

This positioned us for more hands-on field work, testing, and closer integration with utility operations across the United States.

Powering Progress

The Compliance, Operations, Reliability, Engineering (CORE®) platform was developed to streamline power system analytics and decision support—the heartbeat of utility automation. We opened an office in Concord, California, in 2020, strengthening our presence on the West Coast, bringing our expertise closer to the utilities and communities we serve.

Partnering to Modernize Puerto Rico's Grid

We joined LUMA Energy, a joint venture leading the operation and modernization of Puerto Rico’s transmission and distribution grid. Drawing on our expertise in resilience planning, distributed energy resources (DER) integration, and system operations, the initiative supported a more reliable, efficient, and customer-focused future for the island.
