Power Distribution System Planning Advisor
Duties: Help lead growing activities in assisting utilities with the redesign of power distribution systems. Provide industry thought leadership about the power systems of tomorrow. Contribute technical content to projects, which may include development of process re-engineering, analytics automation, etc. Identify and pursue business opportunities in distribution utilities related to smart grid applications (i.e. distribution automation, DER integration, distribution system hosting capacity assessment, microgrids, etc). Provide Project management skills to complex projects, i.e. distribution system wise hosting capacity studies, distribution planning process improvements, distribution operation process improvements, etc. Keep abreast of related technical developments in the field by collaborating and creating technical white papers and technical presentation in technical forums. Play a key role on customer requirements and solution definitions, mainly power utilities, by providing a business process overall overview (planning, designing, operation, maintenance, IT, regulatory) of its impacts and potential synergies. Promote collaboration with National Laboratories and Technical Universities in cutting edge knowledge development and sharing them with power distribution industry. Prepare and collaborate in technical training material regarding smart grid, distribution planning, distribution system maintenance and operations, DER integration. Provide trainings to power utility engineering team. Lead, mentor and coach technical junior staff in performing technical evaluations for renewable generation to distribution system integration studies and smart grid applications while using power system analysis tools such as CymDist, CymTCC, Synergi, SKM, PSS®SINCAL, GIS and power utility’s PI systems. Led and promote business opportunities abroad in the area of smart grid applications and renewable generation integration to power systems (transmission and distribution).
Required: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study plus 7 years of experience in the job offered or related engineering positions. Must have 7 years of experience with Planning large electric power distribution systems; Modern Distributed Energy Resource (DER) planning; Distributed generation; and Resilent systems. Or in the alternate, will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related field of study plus 9 years of experience in the job offered or related engineering positions. Must have 7 years of experience with Planning large electric power distribution systems; Modern Distributed Energy Resource (DER) planning; Distributed generation; and Resilent systems.
Travel required 20% of time. Able to telecommute from home.
