Quanta Technology LLC seeks Engineer, Distribution (Raleigh, NC) Duties: Design and build power electronics circuits and control systems to interface with utility digital power protection relays and devices. Perform advanced engineering and research studies for utility electric distribution systems pursuing state-of-the-art technology consisting of distributed energy resources, such as wind and solar, battery energy storage, plug-in electric vehicles, and advanced power electronics. Asses impact of high level photovoltaic integration to power distribution grid. Perform photovoltaic integration studies for utilities and suggest migration measures for issues found during the performance of photovoltaic integration studies. Model electrical power distribution system for steady-state and dynamic studies. Perform Electrical Power Systems Reliability Studies. Develop new study approaches and techniques as required utilizing a variety of advanced engineering analysis tools such as ETAP, CYME, PSCAD, Synergi, DEW, etc. Design and build PSCAD computer models to perform simulations and transient studies in PSCAD for distributed generation. Design and build advanced monitoring and control systems in an utility laboratory to simulate different operating environments, such as dynamic load balancing utilizing a real time digital simulator and hardware-in-the-loop. Write proposals to support developing projects.
Required: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or related engineering positions. Must have any experience and/or coursework with Photovoltaic Integration Studies, SCADA platforms and at least one of the following advanced engineering analysis tools: ETAP, CYME, PSCAD, Synergi or DEW.
